Jinan, also named as “City of Spring”, is the capital of Shandong Province. She is located in the east part of China and in between Beijing and Shanghai. She fits herself in with springs, lakes and mountains. Yellow River goes through her north board. Mount Tai is about 60 km away in the south.
She is a transportation center, connecting two north-south metropolitan areas including Shanghai-Nanjing and Beijing-Tianjin, adjoins two economic circles including Yangtze River Delta and Bohai Rim Region and radiates the middle and lower streams of the Yellow.
The area of present-day Jinan has been inhabited for more than 4000 years.
It is renowned across China for its numerous springs, the lakes fed by the spring water, and the weeping willows that grow along the water edges. Jinan was also the historical center of Buddhist culture for the whole province which is still manifest in the many historic sites that are left behind in its southern counties.
